Culpeper Christian Assembly is an independent, non-denominational
Bible-believing church where people who love Jesus Christ can join together in
worship, prayer, teaching, fellowship, edification, service, and proclamation of
the Gospel. Based on scriptural
principles, leadership, decision-making, and teaching responsibilities are
shared among and guided by a team of elders.
Our Statement of Faith concisely summarizes the fundamental principles of
our faith in Jesus Christ, guiding our teaching and providing the foundation for
our desire to both proclaim the Gospel to the world around us and minister God's
grace to our fellow believers.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
Truths we believe:
ONE
GOD,
existing eternally in three Persons as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
equal in power, glory and dignity; infinite, unchanging and complete in all His
attributes.
[Deut
6:4; John 10:30; 1 Cor 8:6; Eph 1:17; Hebrews 1; John 14:25-26; Rev 4:8; Malachi
3:6; Deut 32:4; Eph 2:18]
THE
FATHER,
sovereign planner and authority over all creation, worthy of receiving all
glory, honor and praise. We exist
for His glory and are accountable to Him in reverential fear.
[John
6:65; Rev 4:7; Psa 147:4; Isa 40:25-26; Isa 43:7; Job 38-41; Eph 2:1-10; John
15:8; Psa 47:2; Deut 8:6]
JESUS
CHRIST,
His deity, His true humanity, virgin birth, His atoning death for sins, bodily
resurrection, ascension, and future visible return to and reign upon the earth.
[John
1:1-18; John 8:58; John 5:19-24; Heb 4:14-15; Isa 7:14; Isa 53; Acts 2:22-36; 1
Pet 2:21-24; Titus 2:11-14; 1 Cor 15:3-8; Luke 24:50-51; Matt 24:44; 1 Thess
1:10; James 5:8-9]
THE
HOLY SPIRIT, who teaches believers, brings to remembrance all that God has
said, convicts men of sins, and regenerates, indwells, and sets apart the
believer to a holy life.
[John
14:26; John 16:8-11; 1 Cor 12:4-7; Eph 1:13-14; Micah 3:8; Gal 5:16-25]
THE
BIBLE,
as the Word of God, fully inspired, inerrant in the original writings, of
absolute authority in faith and life.
[2
Pet 1:20-21; 2 Tim 3:15-17; Psa 19:7-11; Matt 5:17-18]
THE
SINFULNESS AND HELPLESSNESS OF MAN, as a result of Adam’s disobedience
due to the deception of Satan, resulting in divine condemnation.
Man is not capable of earning God’s forgiveness through any merit or
effort of his own, and remains in spiritual bondage until liberated by accepting
God’s offer of salvation.
[Eccl
7:20; Isa 53:6; Rom 3:23; John 6:44; Eph 2:1-3; Acts 26:18; John 8:44]
SALVATION,
as a gift of God's grace offered to all mankind, apart from human merit,
received on condition of faith in the person and redemptive work of Jesus
Christ. Upon regeneration, believers are adopted into God’s family and are
sanctified by God the Father and preserved in Jesus Christ until the day of
redemption, when all believers will be present with the Lord.
[Eph
2:8-10; John 3:16-17; Matt 11:28-30; 1 Pet 1:3-4, John 5:24,
John 10:28-30, Eph 4:30, Jude 1, 2 Cor 5:8-10]
THE
CHURCH,
in its universal form composed of all true believers in Christ, and in its
visible form as a body of believers organized locally for worship, prayer,
teaching, edification, service, and evangelism.
[Eph
1:22-23; 1 Cor 12:12-13; Eph 4:11-13; John 4:23; Matt 21:13; 2 Tim 2:2; 1 Cor
14:12; 1 Pet 3:15; Mark 16:15]
